Why I'm Running Again
I'm Jean Coles, and I've been your Ward 1 Councillor for Ilderton, Birr and Denfield since being appointed by Council in November 2024. I'm running this October because the work we started — on responsible growth, responsible spending, better infrastructure, and a Ward that looks out for its neighbours — is working, and I'd like to keep going, this time with your vote behind me.
For the past two years, I've listened to residents, brought hard questions to Council, and focused on delivering results. With your help and input, I've been able to:

Serve on the Budget Working Group, helping navigate a $78.87 million municipal budget with taxpayers front of mind.

Advocate for Ilderton Arena improvements and better active transportation connections across the ward.

Push for road safety measures, including speed radar and signage, and keep residents informed through issues like the Ontario's e-scooter rules.
I'm proud of what we've accomplished this term, but more work remains. I'd love your support to keep up the momentum.

I choose Ilderton. It did not choose me.
That choice, made fifteen years ago and renewed every year since, is what shapes how I see the future of Ilderton, Birr and Denfield. My vision isn't a list of things I'll do for you, it's a picture of what we can keep building together.
A ward where growth happens on our terms. Development is coming to Middlesex Centre whether we're ready or not. Our shared vision is growth that happens in the right places, with the roads, water, and services in place to support it, so we're never playing catch-up with the infrastructure our families and farms depend on.
A ward where every tax dollar is respected. Responsible spending isn't about cutting corners, it's about making sure every investment, big or small, is weighed against what it actually means for the families, seniors, farmers and business owners paying for it.
A ward with infrastructure and recreation that keeps pace with our community. Trails, parks, arenas, and safe roads aren't extras, they're what make Ilderton, Birr and Denfield places people choose to stay, and choose to raise a family.
A ward where everyone feels safe. Whether it's speeding on a country road, a farm vehicle sharing the road with school buses, or a serious incident that shakes a neighbourhood, safety means listening to what residents are actually experiencing and acting on it.
This is the Ward 1 I've spent fifteen years building toward, first as a neighbour, now as your councillor. I'd be honoured to keep building it with you.
Leadership with Purpose
With two years of dedicated service in Ward 1, I have focused on building bridges between residents and the municipality.
My motivation stems from a deep commitment to transparency and the belief that every voice matters. I am here to listen, learn and work tirelessly to ensure our community continues to thrive.
